Q2 2010: Spotlight on Engineering Department
Every department at Brenk Brothers has a unique role in the manufacturing of our precision machined parts and the in-house engineering staff is one group that specializes in providing a hands-on approach to our projects, resulting in many benefits for our customers.
Brenk Brothers’ engineering department is made up of very experienced individuals, including 3 people with over 15 years and 2 people with over 8 years at BBI. This group includes:
Together, the team works with our customers to establish the most efficient and cost-effective ways to make the parts.

The engineers at Brenk Brothers are full of ideas that come from a combination of experience and innovation. They are personally available to customers to review part design and to offer cost-reducing suggestions. Automation has been the theme in recent machine purchases made at Brenk Brothers, and it is continuing in 2010. During our expansion in 2007, Brenk Brothers purchased their first automatic pallet changing system allowing for 24-7 machining. In early January, a "second generation" automatic pallet changing system was purchased that, when up and running, will interact with 2 additional horizontal milling centers. In first quarter 2010, Brenk Brothers also purchased a second MAM, 5-axis machining center, with an additional 32-pallet "silo station" attachment. These purchases assist Brenk Brothers in continuing to work toward the goal of predictable output and high efficiency. The automation equipment also allows Brenk Brothers to respond quickly to customer demand.
Brenk Brothers is also excited to announce the purchase of their first Swiss turning machine. This CNC precision automatic lathe will produce small, precise parts and is ideal for short run or high production volumes.
In addition to the automation equipment, Brenk Brothers has acquired several new pieces of auxiliary equipment, including an "Engis" brand pneumatic lapping machine that will assist in providing super flat surface finishes. The purchase of a new laser part marking machine before the end of the first quarter is also planned to increase capabilities for part marking more materials.
Brenk Brothers works hard to invest in the latest equipment to make precision machined parts. These machine purchases support Brenk Brothers’ goal of continuous improvement by providing the best equipment to make good, quality, on-time parts for our customers.
